People are often targeted for liking certain things just because it's popular :/ Yes, there are people with the "follower" mindset, but it's not everyone. Popular things are popular BECAUSE people like them; because there's something likable about the subject.
If people who like things are frequently made fun of for LIKING things, then what happens to the haters? Liking something rarely hurts others, but to go out of your way to verbally attack people because of what they like is kind of pathetic and can definitely be hurtful. It's like hating is a hobby for some people.
I don't understand the mentality behind: "Oh, this is popular. So we'll be COOL by being DIFFERENT and NOT LIKING IT.....AND FLAUNTING OUR UNIQUE DISTASTE " Honestly? What the Hell? And then the Hater's little buddies feel compelled to join in the hating else THEY be thought uncool. And then that they feel the compelling need to go out and put down those who like said popular thing...

Haters, get over yourselves and go find a REAL hobby. Because right now, your hobby is the equivalent of acting like a stuck-up teenager. Good lord.

Anywho, sorry about this :'D It's just something that's bothered me for forever.
Don't let yourselves fall into the habit of bashing on things just because it's the "cool" thing to do.
